About Us

The Industry Training Federation (ITF) is a membership-based organisation, representing Industry Training Organisations (ITOs) to government and working with agencies and sector groups to improve the policy for and delivery of industry skill development and workplace learning.

There are currently 40 ITOs, all of which are represented by the ITF. All ITOs are listed on our Contact an ITO page.

What we aim to achieve

The ITF's vision is "a skilled and productive New Zealand".

Our mission is Leading a Skilled Future: supporting industry training organisations' transformation of New Zealand's workforce and workplaces.

How we aim to achieve this

We aim to achieve our vision through:

  • championing a skilled and productive workforce for New Zealand
  • creating the environment for ITOs to transform New Zealand's workforce, and
  • building the capability of ITOs to transform New Zealand's workforce.

What we do

  • Research and information
The ITF is research led and informed. Our research programme is focused around current ITO activity, issues and requirements.
  • Policy and advocacy
The ITF co-ordinates ITO input into all relevant government and industry training policy. We actively promote policies to enhance workforce development and the quality of workplace learning.
  • Leadership and collaboration
The ITF engages in projects that are intended to encourage good practice in the development, delivery and monitoring of industry skill development and workplace learning. Good practice material is available from the publications page.
  • Maintain a strong Federation
We work hard to maintain a strong Federation, by serving the needs of our 40 ITO members.
