You are warmly invited to join the Industry Training Federation and the Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics as we call for a system change to increase skilled workers and grow our economy.

Workforce for the Future Conference 2014

July 30 start 9.30am and July 31 finishing 4.30pm

Te Papa, Wellington

The ITF and the ITPs will launch a joint discussion document based on opportunities to up-skill our workforce; grow our economy and meet industry need.

‘Skills beyond School’, the new OECD report, is a wake-up call for New Zealand. It asserts that vocational education will only drive economic development if it is industry-driven, future-focused, and funded according to need.

We are delighted that the OECD’s Skills Beyond Schools Head, Deborah Roseveare, will be our Keynote Speaker.

Senior Cabinet Ministers and MPs have been invited to speak, and we will be running group workshops to enable delegates to share examples of good practice and discuss the future workforce challenges and opport

unities.

Vocational education must be smarter, quicker and more responsive to industry.

The conference will explore how to:

• Anchor training in the needs of industry,

• Influence the development of strong policy development

• Build transitions that work

• Fund for quality

Change is progress, and election year is the time to invite progress.
